[This document is annotation to the author's transcription of Charles Dickens's "The Lost Arctic Voyagers" (1854).]

The "PRESCOTT" to whom Dickens alludes is William Hickling Prescott (1796-1859), the Harvard-educated American historian and the author of The History of the Reign of Ferdinand and Isabella and The History of the Conquest of Mexico (three volumes, 1843).
