Geldart, who had originally trained as an architect under Alfred Waterhouse, was responsible for the new Chancel, completed in 1890. [Commentary continues below.]

This window illustrates the Te Deum: under the central figure of Christ is the text, "Te Deum Laudamus" from the Gregorian song of praise to God. According to the information at the church itself, it cost £380. As for the firm which executed the window, William George Taylor (born 1822) had joined the firm of Michael and Arthur O'Connor in 1873, and had taken it over from 1877. It was then known as Taylor & O'Connor. But at the turn of the century, with another partner, it became Taylor & Clifton, under which name it lasted into the early twentieth century, when this window was made. By this point, it is really not possible to see the window as the O'Connor firm's work, especially as it is known to have been actually designed by Geldart.
