Mansion House

At the farther end of the Poultry on the right rises the Mansion House, the official residence of the Lord Mayor during his year of office. The building is approached by a Corinthian portico.
In the interior, to the left of the entrance, is the Lord Mayor's Police Court, open to the public daily from 12 till 2.
The long suit of state and reception rooms are shown only by the special permission of the Lord Mayor. The principal room is the Egyptian Hall, in which the Lord Mayor gives his banquets. [text accompanying photograph]
The volume containing these images by an unidentified photographer bears the imprint "With H. and C. F. Feist's compliments" but no name, date, or place of publication, though the Feists were dealers in port wine, and Plate 30 demonstrates that the photograph must have been taken after 1902, and John R. Mendel offers evidence that it dates before mid-1906 [GPL].
